I have a question about ABEO...we're using them for our billing and have been told that we can't have anything beside text in a patient address. So, we can't put a "." after Ave or Dr. We also can't type 1/2 if a patient has that in their address, like " 354 1/2 Main St". We have to type "354 and one half Main St" Is this correct? Anyone else experience this with outsourced billing?

Dear Dr. Rudolf,
You can list an address as 354 1/2 Main Street or even 35-45 Main Street. However, you cannot use ". , ; : or #" in the patient's address field. This will cause the claim to be rejected by the payer once they receive the claim for processing. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any additional questions on populating the patient's demographics properly to avoid rejections. Thanks Merisa

Also watch out for hyphens in insurance id's. If you add the Medicare id in the New Patient appointment window, it will include the hyphens. Then you will wonder what happened to have your claim rejected. Another issue for which a fix has been requested.
