I would like to fulfill this objective by providing patients with links to my website or to pages at All About Vision. I was thinking that I can either email links to the patient or upload links to the portal. First of all, how do you upload links (rather than documents) to the portal? Second, does anyone have a quick and easy way to provide the patient with the links?
Does anyone have any other suggestions for providing patient education resources?

I have a med rec field for pt education and diagnosis button for common diagnoses that would enter the diagnosis code and put the link in the the pt ed field and then print on the invoice. That capability was taken away in the MU2 version and I've been hoping they'll give it back soon (although the diag buttons won't work with ICD-10). Even if we upload everything to the portal, I still patinest should have something in their hands when they leave. Marcia

Question about this core measure, I know that some are using the diagnosis code linking feature to prompt to print an education resource, but is that the only way to fulfill this measure correctly? What are other legitimate options? Any advice/information would be helpful.
Thank you. Andy

Andy You can use the Correspondence Report to pull a list of patients with an appropriate diagnosis code to receive educational material. You can upload to the portal and send them a link. You still have to use the diagnosis codes to determine who gets the educational material.

An email link you say, but to what? Any general info. to an outside website? You said also that you still have to use the diagnosis codes to determine who gets the educational material, how? With the diagnosis code linking?
Have you ever used the infoButton in the ARRA tab by chance? Will that count?
Thanks! Andy

That is also where you can upload educational material that you might want available to specific groups of patients (Diabetes, Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, etc). To determine your patient list with the correspondence report, on the Billing/Schedule/Misc tab, select your diagnosis code and date range, run the report and click Assign System File. Select the educational material you uploaded to the portal. Then send them the email with the link. I suggest having a draft email to send out. This is an alternate method to the diagnosis code linking. As I understand the measurement, as long as you use Crystal to determine which patients receive the educational material, that meets the requirement. Make sure to mark the box that indicates patient educational resource. You can also go into a patient's files>online portal, and Assign System File for individuals. Hope this helps!
