I'm getting a lot of people asking about ICD-10 already, so I'll go ahead and post what's going on. As of right now, ICD-10 use is scheduled to begin in October 2015, but there is already speculation of them putting it off another year. Last year, we were the only EMR software prepared to release ICD-10 on time, I believe. You currently have the ability to download and enable ICD-10 codes, but DO NOT do this as if you attempt to bill with the 10 codes, your claims WILL be denied! To download the ICD-10 codes, go to Admin - Diag Codes and check the ICD-10 box. Here you will have the option to Download All ICD10 or Download modified ICD10. The modified codes were pulled from the full list by our development staff and contains only ICD-10 codes related to eyes. To enable and disable the ICD-10 codes, you will find a checkbox under Admin - Company - Records. The name is "Use ICD10 codes in Records" We will be adding additional features related to ICD-10 between now and October. As of right now we are not certain what all of the changes will be, but we will keep you informed as we find them out! Here is a video that goes over downloading the new codes and how to turn them on (October 1) I also go over how to convert ICD9 to ICD10 in the medical records section: Link to the YouTube videoThe videos are finally up for the TOA conference with Dr. Peter Cass covering the new ICD-10! Here are the links: ICD-10 IS HERE!!! - www.youtube.com/watch?v=K45XxYl5_TEICD-10 Coding Guidelines - www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iBLTjxyktAUPDDATE in 4.3.4 and newer: Pre-loaded button for diagnosis dropdown:

I'm not sure how the ICD10's are set up to work but with the vast increase in # of codes and specificity, it would be nice if the selection dropdown list had a choice tree. When you select primary open angle glaucoma for instance, it would then branch out a subset selection to choose the level of damage, then finally it branches to select OD, OS, or OU. Otherwise the list will be too long to just search through the diagnoses if listed singularly.

So at the moment you can search by description. They are currently working on a system where you can enter the ICD9 code and it will give you the appropriate 10 codes. I'm sure we will be offering additional options and I will run this by the dev team!

There is a product called Transition Turbocoder that will help the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 later this year. Check out the demo here - www.turbocoder.net/TTDemo.html

We have a diagnosis code converter in beta testing now where you can enter ICD9 by code or description and it will give you the appropriate ICD10 codes to choose from! Kind of like this product above but it's included in Crystal!

All is well with ICD-10. Just working to clear up some VSP issues before the next release is out. Probably a couple of more weeks.

Dr. T is curious if anyone knows if the ICD-10 codes will effect PQRS? Also, if we will need to update the system once we go live with ICD-10 for them to work with PQRS?

Dr. T,
Thanks for taking the time to contact tech support at Crystal PM. Before October 1st, we will be coming out with another update that will include the ICD10 codes that are acceptable with PQRS found under your Admin>PQRS section. When we have released the version containing the new changes, we will share that information and how it works on the forum. If you have any further questions regarding PQRS, please don't hesitate to contact me at merisa@crystalpm.com. Have a great day!
Thanks Merisa
