Probably, like many, I have not been keeping up with this. I know Medicare will be requiring the new 02/12 version of the CMS 1500 form for all claims as of April 1st. We can check the Use CMS FORM 02/12 box in the Admin->Company-> Billing and CMS tab to turn that on. This thread in Feb talks about what we need to do in Crystal crystalpm.proboards.com/thread/25/using-ansi-5010-billing Have there been any changes since that was posted? Do we also have to check the Use ANSI 5010 billing at the same time as we start using the new CMS 1500 form or is that independent from the new CMS form? I can't find any dates online for when we have to transition to that. Marcia

You need to use the new form if you are submitting paper claims to Medicare. If you are submitting paper claims to any other payer, you should check with them to see which form they would like you to use. Theoretically, they should all switch over to the new form when medicare does, but I know that there will be some that won't be ready on April 1, 2014.
If you are sending information through a clearing house, they are probably converting the print image to the ANSI format on your behalf and sending it to the payer. This is not paper, but an electronic claim, which did not change formats.

No, you do not need to switch to ANSI to use the new claim form. If you send an electronic file, both forms, old and new, will be converted to an appropriate electronic format.I can't find any dates online for when we have to transition to that. Everyone was supposed to switch to ANSI format for electronic payments years ago. Maybe 2010. You could cheat the deadline by sending your claims through a clearing house that would convert them for you from the print image to the ANSI format before they sent them to the payer.
