1. Download Crystal PM client version HERE and save the file 2. Right-click on zip file and choose Extract All, then click Extract - This should extract all of the files and automatically open a folder with a Client folder inside. 3. Open Client folder and right-click on setup.exe and select Run as Administrator 4. Follow the prompts, answering Run and Yes when asked. 5. When finished this will open Crystal and ask you for your server name. This can be found on any other computer running a client version by clicking on Configuration then Server. It can also be found on your server by opening a command prompt (cmd) and typing in "hostname" (no quotation marks) then pressing Enter.

Microsoft .NET framework is a series of program libraries that the Crystal programs rely on. The framework might be included in the Windows operating system already, but for older operating systems it needs to be downloaded and installed from Microsoft. The Microsoft installer knows that Crystal wants to use these programs and might be trying to install it for you. And it sounds like it is getting an error. I would suggest that you try to download and install the framework manually, by searching for ".NET framework" and downloading the installer for the most recent version from Microsoft.
If you have any errors with this you can contact Microsoft support, or call us for support, but if it is a Microsoft problem, there might not be anything that we can do about it.
Got it working. I'm not exactly sure what I did, but I did not have to specifically install the .NET framework. I did do all the upgrades to Windows 8.1 after I was not able to install Crystal the first time, and it seems to be working fine.
In case this comes up again - Go to the "Uninstall a Program" section of Windows. Click on "Turn Windows Features On or Off" on the left. Make sure the box for .NET Framework 3.5 is checked - if not, check it and follow the steps to download.
After this process Crystal should install with no problems!
