My co-worker brought to my attention today that "single" is no longer an option for Marital Status under the Patient Info. tab. Any idea what we are supposed to put instead of single?
Our actual forms that patients fill out are not as detailed as what the drop down options in Crystal are right now(annulled, legally separated, etc.), but I suppose we should add the extra options on our physical forms to match the options in Crystal?
Thanks ahead of time.

That would be Never Married or Divorced, usually. I would probably change your forms to match, but leave off Interlocutory to avoid the mass questions...

I know the Crystal developers didn't simple decide on this list. I have a problem w/ calling a pre-teen as being NEVER MARRIED ! A kid is SINGLE ! The bigger picture is where or when are these terms being reported and why does the HITECH act need the information. The new HCFA doesn't recognize the terms either. Sorry for the political response.

I also don't care for the never married term. A kid is single and what about an adult who puts single down? That doesn't necessarily mean they have never been married. How much into people's personal lives do we need to go for an eye exam? And what the heck is Interlocutory? Noone in my office (including the doctor) knows what it is.
