I think the insurances should never be written over or removed. I think as they termed or cancelled, there should be a way to make them inactive and also have a cancel or inactive date

You can add more insurance tabs in Admin > Defaults > Patient Page Defaults > Insurance Tabs. I recommend adding a "term'd 1" and "term'd 2" tab and when an insurance in terminated, you can use the "Move >" button in the Patient Insurance page to move that insurance over from an active tab to a term'd tab.

Been asking for some sort of "archive" function as well. No way should be just ERASE the previous info permanently, as there is sometimes a need to go back to it.

The only problem with multiple tabs is that the Mass Insurance Check shows all insurances with the option to assign charges to them. This is confusing enough since the primary becomes secondary when there is a balance on the secondary. It would be smart if the names of the tabs showed instead of Ins 1 Ins 2, etc. I have been known to be on a roll posting payments and accidentally move a balance back to the primary after the secondary. I still think there needs to be an overhaul so you can see who has paid what and keep it all straight. Maybe gray out the insurance that has already paid on the claim?

Can you create an inactive tab that lists all past inactive insurances so there is just one tab for them?

Here's a thought: Print that page that shows the inactive insurance (I think it's F4) but use the crystalpm printer as the printer. Then, in the description save it as inactive insurance. The info will be part of the patient file and you can remove it from the insurance tabs.

you could also just write it down in notes. I already am working with 5 insurance tabs. Medical, vision exam 1, materials 1, vision exam 2, materials 2. Some folks actually need all five but it would be confusing to the staff billing out and the biller if "bad info" as in that tab. they would still be in drop down. it shows what you used and pulled auths for in the pt files. I know if last year was government insurance but this year is vsp, based on auths pulled.

Thanks for this! We are currently printing the old insurance card to the Files, but didn't know we could get all the data from the tab printed. Very helpful! Marcia

If so in your print menu there should be a place to click manage print options and you may see it listed further down in your print option. Hope this helps!!

You may need to contact your IT professional, or whomever set up all the client stations at the office. It's possible that some variation of admin privileges is preventing you from adding additional devices.
