Maybe I'm missing the section regarding the patient portal... Is there a way to limit who sees messages sent from the patient portal? I tested this feature today and once "Check Website for Messages" was clicked, all the online messages were visible on all employee's task lists. Ideally there would be one to a few employees who manage the web messages. Please point me in the right direction!

There is not currently a way to restrict a user from seeing the portal messages.

I guess you could assign certain employees to respond to messages but it seems like it would be a HIPAA violation to have all messages visible to all employees. Marcia

I don't think it would be a Hipaa violation due to the fact that all your employees are covered under Hipaa anyway - aren't they?
A Great feature to have would be for the PATIENT to be able to send an image to the portal - Like an insurance card.

My understanding is that as long as you have your security settings properly set up in CPM for users to have to input a password to verify their clearance for access to secure medical records, then they are not in violation of HIPAA.. That said, there is an argument to be made regarding portal messages going to only specific employees for the purpose of accountability and quality control in my opinion. I agree it would be nice to be able to submit image files through the portal messaging system... In the mean time, our office uses SolutionReach, and they offer a FREE app to patients called PatientReach Mobile in which the patient can register as patient at your practice, and can open up a secure chat dialog with the office through the app. Patients can send photos and chat natively from with the app... Our on call doctor uses this often on weekends and holidays when the office is closed. Find out more at www.solutionreach.com/patientreach/mobile

Yes, all employees should be covered under HIPAA but HIPAA also requires that employees are on a need-to-know basis. For a large practice with many employees, all employees shouldn't have access to the medical records, etc. Marcia

I can't figure out where we would get notified about a message from a patient using the patient portal. Cluny's post refers to a "Check Messages from Website" button - where is this located? I have tested sending a message from the portal and it shows sent but I don't know how to find it in Crystal. Please advise. Thanks!

It's located in the tasks module in the bottom/middle.

Thanks! you have to manually check them on the TASKS page next to create a task.. We found this out the hard way. We ended up with 3 downloaded messages on one day, having no idea how old the original message was since we didn't know to check. Hoping they set it up to auto download to may just admins and admins can disperse as needed. That stays HIPPA compliant and need to know. most admins are the major staff players and doctors.

Hello, finally found a forum about the patient portal. Can someone recommend a guide about patient portal development? I've attached an example of such material to the link. Thanks in advance for your help.
