Why were the options for marital status changed/where are they being used? I only see preferred language, sex, race, ethnicity, and date of birth listed as required demographics for MU stage 2. Unless I missed it, marital status isn't even listed on the updated CMS 1500 claim form.

It was a requirement for Crystal to meet in order to be considered a certified EHR (Electronic Health Record) system. There are a bunch of features that you will never use, such as keeping track of radiology orders, that we had to build into the system in order to qualify for our certification. For MU2, you need to use an EHR certified system, which means you're stuck with the new marital statuses.
