So most of you know that some changes are coming to ICD-10 beginning on October 1, 2016. At this time, our goal is to have updated lists available BY 10/1.
On 10/1, you can go to Admin - Diag Codes and download the FULL list which will contain ALL ICD-10 codes. We are also hoping to have a modified list available at that time, which will contain only eye-related codes.
BE AWARE, DOWNLOADING THE NEW LIST WILL OVERWRITE YOUR CURRENT LIST, ALONG WITH ANY CHANGES YOU HAVE MADE.

The new codes have now been released. They can be downloaded under Admin - Diag Codes. I am including links to download Excel spreadsheets containing the full and modified lists.
(update to at least 4.4.27 and download either the full or modified code list in Admin->Diag Codes)
Again, be aware, downloading these lists will overwrite your current lists, along with any changes you have made!

A good majority of our clients are using Dr. Dettloff's diagnosis list. (Yay! and thank you Dr. Dettloff!) If you are using Dr. Dettloff's template or the Crystal Template, chances are you are using her modified list!! We were able to take her current list and merge it with the new optometry codes (as well as remove any inactive codes) In Admin->Diag Codes click the Print List to File & save it. This will make a backup of your current code list. (update to at least 4.4.27 and download either the full or modified code list in Admin->Diag Codes) mdeyedoc do you have anything to add to this?

ok to do this before Oct 1? Karen The new codes are not valid until 10/1 so I don't know if you want to do it before then.

I am a little confused with all of these lists. I use Dr Dettloff's template with her modified list and noticed that there is a significant number of codes missing from the new 9_27_16 modified list. When I compared my current list with the non-specific modified eye list again there was a significant difference in codes. Specifically the codes for POAG and Diabetes( I haven't had the time to check further). When I went to the full unmodified list the POAG and diabetic eye codes were complete. It seems that the modified lists are missing many essential codes. Is my analysis of the new modified lists correct?

Try this one: (Update Crystal to at least 4.4.27 and download the codes in Admin->Diag Codes) I went through it last night and modified the list, added a bunch of the glc/mac degen/diab codes. Removed unspecified codes. I haven't gotten any feedback on the list yet. Please let me know if you have any.

mdeyedoc do you have anything to add to this? Sorry, I was out of town last week and am trying to catch up this week. I thought Oct 1 was just when they were being more strict on the claims and hadn't even realized that there were ICD10 code changes until I saw a post while on vacation. Argh! I started going through them yesterday. So far I have found several codes in my original list that are not in the Crystal list (although most docs would never need them). I also have to see how the search criteria I use on my diagnosis buttons works with the added codes. Marcia

I also have to see how the search criteria I use on my diagnosis buttons works with the added codes. Marcia I almost think it would have been easier on everybody if they just rolled everything out at the same time? A "one and done" approach lol. At any rate, I think the majority of our clients are using the Modified list that is in 4.4.37+ The Crystal Template used the modified code list that you created for phase 1. We tried to make it so that very minimal changes would need to be done for the ICD10 buttons but a few like the 2 AMD codes need manual adjustment. Hopefully this will make the transition into phase 2 easier for you and your template users as well. I've talked to a few offices that use your template and have been trying to help them make changes as needed. The challenge is that generally offices have made changes to either the set of buttons or the patient education/RTC etc command lines so there isn't an easy way to give them a cookie cutter set of updated buttons without them losing their changes. I recommend that they watch the video on editing the buttons and I created a how-to-configure search criteria PDF to try to ease the process as well. ( found here). Here is a list of things I have requested as some of the descriptions are getting cut off in the 2017 modified list (there is a 100 character limit for the description when the .csv file is imported into Crystal): 1. Replace bilateral, left eye & right eye with OD, OS & OU for every code in the modified list 2. Replace replace macular degeneration with mac degen or macular degen 3. Add 2 codes: have had a few doctors request these codes added in: Z79.84 Long term (current) use of oral hypoglycemic drugs Z79.4 Long term (current) use of insulin 4.4.39 is set to release on Sunday PM. I'm hoping that my list of modifications will be released as well. If you have any suggestions for the modified code list please let us know so we can request that the devs update it. Thanks! Erica

Is anyone else's Code Converter Button not working as well as before? I just downloaded the full 2017 ICD-10 list because I though my staff had done it previously (I had to change multiple diabetic and glaucoma codes to viewable.. changing "No" to "yes" in the admin panel). Now if I send POAG 365.11 and try my Code Converter Button, it gives me NO ICD 10 codes to convert it too??? Also, 250.50 (type 2 diabetes with complications) gives me only a few ICD 10 codes to select, instead of the abundance I know that there is (mild, moderate, severe, with and without macular edema, right left and binocular, etc, etc)

I don't believe that we received one for ICD9 to the new ICD10 codes which is why nothing is coming up I'll see if we can get one. I have a set of pre-made ICD10 buttons: crystalpm.proboards.com/thread/1449/2017-icd10-pre-coded-buttonlinkIf you would like them, email me your template I can integrate them for you. Go to EHR->Import Templates/MedRec Utility Click the Backup Existing Templates button, save the file to your computer and email it to erica@crystalpm.com Erica
