I had a call the other day where this had happened and I wanted to explain what was going on behind the scenes, so if this happens to you, you'll know what to do.
She had the schedule up in TAB in her browser window and the patient opened in Crystal. When she added some insurance information to the appointment, it would get wiped out or replaced with the "Notes" from Crystal, which was just the patient name and phone numbers. This was a problem because she didn't want to lose the insurance information.
ISSUE#1: When another person has the patient record open on another client it will give you a warning that the record is locked. The TAB sync program was getting that same message and could not update the patient because she was looking at it.
ISSUE#2: With the AutoSave feature turned on, the patient information is being saved and sent to TAB once every minute while the record is open.
ISSUE#3: Every update or change sent through the sync program assumes that this is the latest information and will replace everything on the other system.
SOLUTION: Don't try to have them both open at the same time. Make your changes in TAB, make it look the way you want with all the correct information. All this information, including the notes will transfer over to Crystal and replace the old information. Close TAB, or go back to the calendar, and wait a reasonable period of time (up to a minute) for the computers to recognize the change, send the change to the other system, and record the new information. Now open the patient in Crystal and the information should be there just like it was in TAB. You can make changes to it here if you would like, but close the patient record and wait a reasonable period of time before you go over to TAB and see the changes.
