Looks like there are new/changed/deleted codes for 2018. Will we have the option of just dowloading the changes to the codes or will we have to download the whole list? We modified some of the descriptions, etc to make for easier searching in our system and don't want to lose all of that!

If it works like it has in the past, downloading new code lists will also replace your descriptions. You will most likely need to make a backup of your current code list to excel, download the new code list, also back it up to excel and then manually go through the optometry codes and copy and paste your descriptions over to the new list. Then you can re upload new list with changed descriptions to Crystal. I know that sounds cumbersome, but thats probably the only way. Another suggestion, which takes effort on the front end but then you wont really need to worry about this so much in the future, is to set up a code index on your A&P tab so that you no longer have to search for diag codes.. I agree some can be difficult to find with search, so I instead set up an index of buttons on our A&P tab that scribe or doc can just click on button and it will give them all of the ICD-10 options for that diagnosis. This took time personally to set up each button to search for the correct codes, but now I just need to update the diag code list once it is released and the buttons should still search and find the new ones just like they did the old ones for the most part. There may a couple of buttons that need reconfiguration after the new codes are downloaded, but that is easy fix compared to copy and pasting hundreds of custom descriptions.. If you want the short cut, I have basically done all of the button building work already. You could download my A&P page (Frisco Eye Associates in the import/export dialog) to your record then copy and paste all of the buttons to your A&P tab then delete my tab you downloaded. Just a thought if interested in the button index. Good Luck!

Does anyone have a link to the changes pertinent to optometry? Unfortunately it won't help you Kathy but I have posted my modified diagnosis file with special search terms that works with my template here in the past. Life has just been very busy but I was going to try to get it updated it this weekend. It would save me some time if I didn't have to hunt down the source. Marcia

www.icd10data.com/ICD10CM/New_Codes/2017www.icd9data.com/HCPCS/2013/V/default.htmboth links change with the times. they are in by bookmarks under "insurance billing" file at the very top. the V codes help when describing High RX to insurances, the codes tell you when they are billable, old, new, etc. They change and only say 2017 since we are in 2017 they will mention the new and old code in each search along with any codes also needed to be in use with this code...and it's all free.
