Dettloff updated ICD10 file for Oct 2017

Here is my modified diagnosis code file with the changes starting Oct 2017 that works with my template (Cary Optometric).

For those that have not been using my modified diagnosis code file, it includes all the codes that were recommended by the AAO and the AOA in the past and a few others that I found that were relevant. All the non-billable codes have been removed along with most of the unspec eye codes. I assumed we should know what eye is involved. I did keep unspec for some of the neuro codes and some of the lid codes because I refuse to code 4 diagnoses for bilateral blepharitis upper and lower.

I edited some codes to make them easier to differentiate in a search and/or to shorten them. I added or substituted some common abbreviations like T1D, DME, CRVO, BRVO, EKC, RCE. I added examples or common labels for diseases that fall under obscure descriptions (e.g. EBMD, Kruckenberg Spindle, lid twitch) to help find them in a search. I put terms that I added to a description in parentheses.

I added (SX) to codes that were more symptoms so I could find them more easily. EG. Ocular pain, unspecified visual disturbances, visual discomfort, visual distortion of shape and size, other subjective visual disturbances, unspecified night blindness, glare, impaired contrast sensitivity, other specified disorders of eye/adnexa. I added (unknown) to the head scratcher unspecified XYZ codes so I can find them when all else fails.

These are the search terms I use on my diagnosis buttons that work with these code descriptions to narrow down the options as much as possible:

For those that have modified their code file and just want the updates, here's a csv file with just the changes (as I edited them for my own use). You can copy and paste the changes into your diagnosis code csv file.

Go to Admin/Diag Codes
Click on Import From File button at bottom right
browse to select the csv file with the new codes

These codes don't take effect until 10/1/17 so you don't want to upload until then.
