Has anyone started to fulfill this core #1 for stage 2?
I am curious specifically on the Radiology order part. This measure says we need to hit:
60% for Medications
30% for Radiology orders
30% for Lab orders
EACH part of the measure has the exclusion available only if do < 100 orders of each. (<100 meds, or <100 radiology orders, or <100 lab orders)
For most of us according to the information I am gathering will be able to excluded from Lab orders, and I don't believe Medications will be an issue, but I am wanting to learn more about the Radiology orders part.
In the CMS document here:
www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Legislation/EHRIncentivePrograms/downloads/Stage2_EPCore_1_CPOE_MedicationOrders.pdf
And according what the Doctor said on the Meaningful Use video that CrystalPM put out it sounds like the definition for Radiology orders will include OCT scans, etc. that we do.
Since the reporting period is only 90 days this 1st year of Stage 2 some may be able to meet the exclusions.
What's tricky is that IF you do have < 100 orders, if my memory serves me right, that when you go to attest they want you to enter in the actual number you did have. So this means we need to keep track of how many orders we do.
Any ideas of an easy way of tracking them? I am thinking a legal pad next to the machine and write down the names you do an OCT, Visual Field, etc. for during your reporting period.
I know that we have to enter in the required 30% via the External Data window under EHR Settings toolbar in the Records tab, but if we strive to meet the 30% (not knowing up front if we will surpass the greater than 100 exclusion threshold) and at the end we do have < 100 orders then we will need to know how many we did.
Hope all this makes sense.
