I enter my own frame and lens defaults since my practice has been with Crystal PM since the very early days. Being able to enter Frame and Lens defaults was a nice addition over the years. However, it was organized in a very convoluted way and isn't put together in the way optical orders work. The order it is put together has made data entry EXTREMELY difficult and time consuming, whereas a simple changing of the order of two categories would make it a breeze.
Currently you enter the LENS TYPE category which is Bifocal, Trifocal, Progressive, etc. Then we must enter the DESCRIPTION and link it to the Lens Type. That seems logical until the next step which is MATERIAL. When you enter a material you then realize you have to enter a Description for every single lens that ever existed in every single material that ever existed and every type of transitions or polarization that ever existed. If you just switched the order of the categories, then the entry would be extremely simple and take a few minutes only whenever a new lens is created and entered.
The system would be very simple and easy to add new lenses to if it went LENS TYPE: MATERIAL: DESCRIPTION: TINT. This would mean we would only need to enter a Varilux Comfort 2 lens ONE time under Description and not THREE times for each material which is usually (3 x 6 = 18) EIGHTEEN times for each lens we are trying to add to our system.
Please look at changing this up so lens choices can be easily added. As it stands, I quit adding new lenses to the system long ago due to the obtuse nature of the system so now my staff have to type each lens in separately which means they have no idea what materials have which options and also nothing is very trackable since everything is typed in differently to the fields by each staff member. It's now a mess. Please fix this.
