I love the ability to set plans under insurance. What I don't love is not being able to use this feature without all hell breaking loose on previous invoices. Why does adding something new and helpful end up destroying previous data on a billing screen from over a year ago??? I "really" hate being told it's my fault and "no one else is having this issue" Is anyone else seeing this issue, too? The provider didn't stay put on the billing screen after you deactivated a doctor and that took 4 separate calls for someone to see and fix. The employee doesn't/didn't (they may have finally fixed that one) stay on invoice after they leave (inactive). I can go in and manually change everything over. Not the point. WHY? That's the point. Why should some insurance change today effect an invoice from a YEAR AGO?

Why should some insurance change today effect an invoice from a YEAR AGO? I was afraid of that. I didn't make changes yet b/c I had seen how changing insurance company adversely affected previous billing. Thanks for the heads up, but sorry you got burned by it.

I was told I was the ONLY one that had issues... That's what is most upsetting. If no one tells them it messes things up, how are they supposed to know...

when I told them about the files disappearing, they said that feature had always been there, but had been broken, now it was fixed. I never hear/saw anything about it either way. Glad I asked, we were concerned it was a problem with our server. As with most Crystal issues, I suspect you are seldom ever the 'only one'

That is really strange guys. I used Crystal for 5 years and never had any issues when the insurance plan changes for the patient (it does not affect any previous invoices). Be happy to log in and take a look at it with you.

It could be that they are storing a reference to a database item rather than saving the item itself. If so, when you edit an item in the reference database, that new instance will come up everywhere it is referenced. To keep old invoices stable they'd have to get the item from the database but store it as a unique field for that invoice. I=Long term, it makes the database much larger.
If it makes you feel any better, if I edit a vendor in Quickbooks, it changes the vendor's name in all the previous transactions. Marcia

I have the same issue. For example, I took each of my Aetna claims addresses and just added them as different plans under Aetna Insurance. I then deleted all of the different Aetna insurances. That way Aetna is listed only once, you just choose the address under plan. It is nice because it makes the insurance list much shorter. But now any invoices that were billed to one of the Aetna insurances I deleted show a number under insurance on the invoice instead of Aetna. When a payment comes in, I have to go to the patient demographics and correct the insurance tab to show plan, then go to invoice and transfer remaining insurance balance from the deleted insurance to the corrected one with the plan specified (making sense??) Then I am able to make the payment.
Somewhat cumbersome, but I figured there would be some issues after deleting the insurances. I did it anyway because I want the insurance list shorter. For me it is worth the little bit of trouble afterward, knowing that eventually it won't be a problem.
Just wanted you to know it isn't just you....

The reason this happened is because you deleted the insurances instead of merging them into the correct insurance with the proper plans. Whenever you delete an insurance, it doesn't know what it should do with the invoices, therefore it just shows the number, which was the "spot" that previous insurance plan held in Crystal. - Kraig
