We are discussing ideas on how to make it easier when it comes to posting covered vs non-covered charges with VSP and would like everyone to vote so we can make sure we add this feature in for everyone.
Our idea is to use the insurance fee schedule and set up all the fee based on non-covered. On the frame order page have check boxes next to material, tint, edge, coating...etc so when it is a covered option to check that box. When you assign the insurance on the billing page, it will overwrite the non-covered charge and push it all on insurance, leaving patient balance 0 for that line item.

The problem with that and VSP is most options are covered - to a point. A $150 frame allowance, lens options covered with copay, which means what we get paid is what the patient is charged. I'm not sure a $0 balance to patient would help us much, but it might help some. I'd rather have the ability to post the chargebacks on the payment. That would help the doctor see why we got a negative payment from VSP.

the charge back is currently being worked on (you will be able to post charge backs as its own column). I believe we're calling it lab fees under mass insurance check.
For the lens options like AR, transitions, you see more covered than non-covered?

For the lens options like AR, transitions, you see more covered than non-covered? Usually stated as covered with additional copay, which means we write off part of it and the patient pays the rest. No actual money from VSP.
As to the column for lab fees, that's nice, please also remember we have to write off for Medicare sequestration. Would be nice to have a column for that, or a multi-use column for miscellaneous write offs, chargebacks, lab fees, etc.

I see, I'm out of date on the latest and newest with VSP since I'm not working for a practice anymore. Thanks for letting me know what's going on with VSP.
