When using the Import/Export dropdown and selecting the Export Patients, after the selection, it saves the document as a .pat extension. Is this extension proprietary to Crystal or can we use other programs as well?

That file will only work if the person you are sending it to has Crystal. Depending on what the other provider needs, you can export a CCR/CCD file which is intended for another EHR to open. You can find this by going to a medical record->EHR Settings->External data. Keep in mind, it's not going to be as detailed as exporting the patient but it's only intended to be a summary.

From this ".pat" file, does Crystal PM support any types of conversion to, say, ".csv" files that we can programmatically update/modify a large number info of patients?

For marketing, recall, and searching's purposes in this case (but for sure, we can use this for many more situations), since we don't have the Ethnic groups or Nationalities in the Patient module and its sub-tabs, I created them in Marketing section, and it's quite tedious to update >5000 patients. ^_^ I'm Vietnamese, and mostly know Patient's Vietnamese Last Names; therefore, I can program in Java to update them if Crystal PM supports the conversion of this .pat file to .csv and vice versa (or any other popular table-like file extensions) Do you have any recommendations for us, erica? Thanks a lot in advance! Attachments:

I don't have anything you would be able to do on your own, but this is something I would be able to adjust by logging into your server and running a few scripts. Just put in a support request for when you would like a call and I can get this taken care of. My recommendation would be to have a short document saved to your computer outlining exactly what you would like to have done, then just get me logged on to do the work. You probably won't want to stick around, because it could take a while. Just let me know!

It sounds really interesting to me, sir! If you don't mind, I'd like to learn how you play around with Crystal PM "internally"? Unfortunately, I'm trying to find the best time to schedule this request, sir! My office opens at 9 a.m to 5 p.m (Mon > Fri), Sat: 9 a.m > 3 p.m. If I remember correctly, you're ahead of me 2 hours.
The set-up for Crystal PM of this office is a little bit unusual, in my opinion. The server is just a normal-Windows-7-Pro desktop which the front-desk staff also works on. That's a reason, I can't "use my creativity" ^_^ during the office hours.
It's Summer, and I'm available any times outside the business hours if you can let me know ahead, sir!
P/s: Our reports columns (Recall, Correspondence, etc.) are fixed, sir! Do you think that'd be really helpful for us if we can dynamically add columns we need and delete (or just hide) unnecessary columns so that every needed info are in one place (and print them out nicely), and we don't have to double clicks on the patients' row, then go to its tab to get the right info, sir!
(I'm sorry for asking quite a bit, but since I know you're really interested in these things just like me, I'm taking advantage a little bit, instead of posting on the Request-Feature page)
Happy late Father Day, sir!

So I could definitely call before you opened one morning. It shouldn't take too awfully long, as long as we've got everything written down properly. I'm figuring probably less than 30 minutes. Also, if you have a good backup, say from the night before, I would be able to work from any computer in the office. I just want to make sure everything is backed up properly in case something goes wrong and we need to revert back.
Unfortunately, the internal work in Crystal must be left to my staff and I, as there is a master password needed to access the system to make changes through the command prompt, that cannot be shared.
As for the columns, I know we have put in requests before for similar features, but it just has never been a priority since you already have the ability to Print to File, saving as a .csv and then editing the columns from there.

For the columns, I'm sorry, sir! I didn't try to "Print to File" for the Recall Report to see all the additional provided info that included in the file. My bad, sir!
For the nationalities and ethics, I will prepare for what you've instructed and let you know the appropriate time asa I complete.
Thank you very much in advance, sir!
