Is there some way to mark the account "in collections" so that a Statement doesn't go out but still shows on my Patients Receivables report. Or maybe a different report for collections? Thanks in advance for your help.

You are welcome to create an insurance company called collections and transfer the patient balance to "collections". Therefore, $0 balance on patient but now you have a balance in collections and it reflects it on the statement that it's been transferred to collections.

Interesting. Will that resolve the problem of posting payments received from Collections? I have been using the 'Other Payment', with sent to Collections, but then when I receive a payment, I have to figure how to credit it without giving the patient a credit or having to change the amount sent to collections.

if we create an insurance that says "collections" as you suggest that would mean we would need to "add" that insurance in the patients insurance tab, correct?

we would also have to make sure to take Collections out of our Insurance Receivables to get an accurate accounting. Has anyone come up with a better solution? I'm open for suggestions.

Yes, that would be adding that as an insurance company to the patient's acct. I like this for several reasons: 1. If the patient tries to come in for something, we will see right away under insurance it lists "collections" 2. Yes, you do have to subtract out this balance from your insurance AR but Crystal makes it easy for you do that. You can also report that as a loss at the end of each year for tax purposes. Of course we make adjustments once it's old and uncollectable.
