I've had several offices ask about ICD 10 so I thought I'd go ahead and give you instructions on what you need to do before Oct 1st, 2015.
Download the ICD 10 codes 1. Go to Admin - Diag Codes - switch view codes to ICD10 2. You will see options to either download all ICD 10 or download modified ICD 10 codes (Modified include all eye and ocular codes only). 3. You can customize the description for each code if you would like. You can also make some of them show on most frequently used diag code (just like you can with ICD 9)
Frequently asked questions: Q: What if I have claims filed using ICD 9 codes that need to be refiled after October 1st? A: You can resubmit those claims in ICD 9 as long as it was before October 1st.
Q: Will downloading the new ICD 10 codes automatically turn this feature on before Oct 1st? A: No, when the time comes, you will go to Admin - Company - Records - and check box use ICD10 codes in Records (check on Oct 1st).
Q: Can I start sending claims in ICD 10 now? A: No, you will need to wait until October 1st to do so. If you're sending test claims (which some clearinghouses are asking you to start sending some in) then yes you can send some with ICD 10 codes. I would simply use ICD 10 codes directly on the CMS form and not activate the check box until October 1st.

When sending test claims, the check box does need to be activated to batch the claims otherwise the diagnosis codes will go across with the wrong qualifiers and the batch will reject. I would create the batch before or after hours, even on a lunch hour, but preferably not when patients are not being seen to avoid ICD10 codes being added to records. You can then immediately un-check the box after the batch is created.

I have downloaded the modified codes and while looking through some I see that codes that are "not billable" as in missing digits are included in this file.
With ICD-9 I had to manually go through and delete those codes that were not "billable" so that the doctors wouldn't use them. These were codes that when the excel file uploaded the 2nd or 3rd last digit was missing or deleted.
Please someone tell me that we can have a new file to download so that we do not have diagnosis codes such as:
H02. Other disorders of eyelid H55.0 Nystagmus

This would be great to know as I am currently in the final stages of customizing the description on all the codes and if I need to delete some I would like to do this now as opposed to after Oct 1, should we get any rejected codes.

Quick question, on Oct 1 when we switch from ICD9 to ICD10, where is the button located to do this? I know under Admin > Diag Codes there is a button to VIEW the codes but how do we switch so they are our default codes instead of the ICD9?
Also still waiting to know when the update will be avail for PQRS?

If we download the modified codes and decide we want to download ALL codes at a later date, will we be able to do so?

When you click on "Print Clinical Summary" or "InfoButton" on the ARRA tab, it cannot figure out that we are using ICD-10. It defaults to ICD-9 and will not find educational info to print on the summary. How do we fix this?

There shouldn't be non-billable codes in there! I'm sure someone in our office is going to select one at some point using F9. For instance, H00.1 Chalazion, is on the list, but is non-billable. The appropriate codes are exist in the listing, but there shouldn't be non-billable codes in there!

I had to delete a few on 10/1 that were non-billable but chosen anyway. :/
Edit: I deleted Exotropia: H51.0 from the list but its still showing up.

Exotropia is H50.1, not H51.0 I assume these are imported from some master source by Crystal and it contained the all the codes, billable or not. However, it makes more sense for Crystal to have one person go through and delete the non-billables than for every office to do it. They can probably search through the data looking for insufficient number of characters. Marcia

Marcia I would have preferred to have Crystal do it, I spent all day Monday and haven't even made it through the H's! I'm hiding them for now, hesitant to delete any until I'm absolutely sure it won't break anything, lol. Having to hide the invalid codes and the unspecified eyes - my doc prefers to be as specific as possible. It will be a work in progress, also 'unhiding' codes as we need them. Karen

I added I10 for "Essential (primary) Hypertension" to go on our VSP invoices (haven't heard what codes they're taking now yet). The I10 is no longer showing up under Admin>Diag Codes whether sorted alphabetically or when I search for the code, but if I try to add I10 again I get a prompt that the Diagnostic Code already exists. Any thoughts?
