Anyone modifying the default ICD10 diagnosis descriptions to better categorize or alphabetize some common codes? Ex: I was thinking all cataract options start with cataract, glaucoma start with glaucoma, etc but not sure this will help or not. For those of you who have modified the descriptions what did you decide? Would any crystal updates in the future override these changes and have to be done all over again?
Also, I was playing around with the ICD10 Diag Dropdown Button option for our A&P page to have the buttons narrow down the search for common diagnosis categories/codes. This really only works (from what I've tried) if each code has a common word/phrase (which is not always the case). The refractive ones are easy and a short drop down list but as I'm creating buttons for other common categories (dry eye, glauc types, diabetes, etc) I can't set the button with a common word/phrase without changing the default diagnosis description as mentioned above -or- I would have a ton of additional subcategory buttons for the bigger conditions. For those of you using this button feature, what diagnosis button categories are you using/planning on using? Thanks!

For those of you using this button feature, what diagnosis button categories are you using/planning on using? Thanks! I was on vacation last week and Kraig sent me an ICD10 modification of my diagnosis buttons. I'm still trying to figure out how it works. The Diag DropDown function does not work the same as the F9 search function. I have a Type 1 diabetes button and a Type 2 diabetes button and if I use those terms in the F9 search, it just pulls up Type 1 and Type 2 codes respectively. But using those same terms with the Diag DropDown function, it lists both the Type 1 and Type 2 codes for both buttons. Another major difference is that the Diag DropDown function displays hidden codes whereas the F9 search only displays non-hidden codes so it will list a LOT more codes if you are using All the ICD10 codes compared to just using the modified codes. I hope to dive into it more tomorrow. Marcia
