I am new to Crystal (5 months) and there maybe a better way to enter cl trials and then order the lenses from the vendors, but I currently find it disjointed. Currently I enter the brand power, bc, axis, dia and manufacturer during the exam. Save that info to Final. Then select CL RX, order cl, new order, create or verify. Then on checkout, if cl are order, the staff then has to go to status, change the status to order, then RE-ENTER ALL OF THE DATA in order to place the order. Why can't we pull the data from the previous entered info? Better yet, why not provide bar codes for each cl company, scan the trial in the exam room to up load all of the parameters. then order from that bar code info. I know the trials and 6 packs have different upc codes but you could link those together in the database. This would make it so much easier to input and order contacts.

BUMP! Does anyone have a suggestion on how to order trials? We are looking for a good /better/ best solution.
I have seen templates with several CLRX before anything is finalized. I know that on this forum there is at least one office that does not finalize until several days or weeks later, waiting for the patient to respond yea/nay on the trials. I don't know how others do it.

we create fields for cls that are ordered. we never finalize that rx. when pt call back after we dispense it and patient likes it then we copy forward those fields to the final rx tab so the prescription page will only show "finalized" rx not any trials or ordered cls rx
not sure if that's easier or what you looking for but that's what works for us.
I don't think the final prescription page should ever include trial or order rx'es bc those are not really patients rx but more just what you ordered for patient. it's documented in our records in different fields

This is an issue that we have played with since starting w/ Crystal in Jan 2013. We sort of used our old "system" to make it work though it is not paperless. The doctors put in the Rx using the cl grid, finalize it and then the staff generates and order. This gets printed out. At the end of the day we write on this order if it is A. ok to order/B. do we need trials for the patient / C. the patient has trials and has a cl check to comeback to us or D. only needs to call if the new rx is okay before we order. This paper order then is used to order trials or revenue product or put into a stack waiting for cl checks or the patient calls. On the day of the cl check we pull this order and assuming the rx is correct the order is then marked to be ordered or dispensed. It is not paperless but it works for us. I have not revisited the system but with as many patients being in one of these for states the computerized ordering may not be effective.- sorry for the long winded reply but not sure how to make it better. If you want more details- contact me.

It also would be great if there were contact lens linking - making choices for contact lenses faster.
