Has anyone come up with a way to see all active patients and the insurances associated with them? I would like to know how many patients have each insurance. I got excited when I saw the Patient Insurance Report but it didn't tell me anything and didn't really make any sense. I know I didn't have only 74 people with insurance in 2015 and 1400 without!

I would use the Correspondence report.. On the Patient Tab you can Uncheck the "No Insurance Criteria" box and it will pull up a box to select an insurance for which you would like to get a total number of patients who are under their umbrella.
Now just doing this is going to take into consideration ALL patients in Crystal who have not been made "inactive" by an admin and it could include patients who may not have been in for years.
You could use the same correspondence report to curate further if you would like. I would suggest running the correspondence report first from the billing page and unchecking "Last Full Exam" and setting the dates for Jan 1st 2015 through Dec. 31st 2015. Running this will give you the total number of patients billed for an exam in 2015 in the lower right hand corner of the report.
Now that you have your total I would go back to the report screen and leave your original "Last Full Exam" unchecked and the dates still entered and go ahead and move over to the patient section of the report criteria and now Uncheck the "No Insurance Criteria" and select the insurance you would prefer to tally up.
Just for continuity I will post the numbers for our office's Top 4 Insurance Providers I found using this report.
Total Exams Seen in 2015 - 12,240 Exams Billed
VSP - 4,964 Exams Billed -- 40.5%
Eyemed - 2,911 Exams Billed -- 23.8%
Superior Vision - 1,309 Exams Billed -- 10.7%
Spectera - 1,025 Exams Billed -- 8.4%
Other - 2,031 Exams Billed -- 16.6%

Thank you for the suggestion, but you demonstrated the problem - you must go back into the Correspondence Report and change for each insurance company and run again. Keeping in mind that we have all medical plans also, this is a time consuming task! I'd love a spreadsheet that I can work with for all insurance companies. Maybe I ask too much....

I see your conundrum! Haha that was the only trick I had up my sleeve hopefully we will see some significant upgrades to reporting in 2016 from CPM.

That's a good idea for a few major players, I will try it until something better comes along....hint hint to CPM....
