How are the new patients counted on the Daily and Multi Day Reports? I ran the report, took out the ones that made appointments but never showed, or cancelled; ran again with same results. I would like to see it with active patients only. My goal is to find all patient who had a record created but did not come to their visit, or have any billing, so I can inactivate them and take them out of our patient count. It skews all the numbers. Suggestions?
Thanks, Karen

Thanks, Karen When you say records, are you talking about medical records? If they didn't show they shouldn't have a medical record. Are you importing online history or something? Regardless, if you somehow have a med rec that is empty, you can find them via a medical records report. The prescription column will show if they have any Spec or CL Rxs and the exam column will show what exam tabs are saved so if they never showed they will stand out because they will be empty, or close to. You can go to the medical record from the report and confirm that is isn't an exam and then delete that med rec. We just started trying a new system for getting rid of patient files of no-shows. When they don't show, we rename the last name to NEW and clear out any other info except for the required fields. Then when a new patient calls for an appt, we search on New and overwrite that patient with the new pt's info. Marcia

I like your solution for getting rid of bad patient files, will try that. I was not referring to medical records, but all active patients are counted in the reports, but not all active patient files are valid. I can see where this would go back to the request to be able to delete a patient file, instead of deactivating it. Your solution may be the best answer. Thanks for sharing.

Karen We just started so I don't know if future kinks will come up. One argument I've heard against overwriting the patient info is that you won't have an appt history on someone that is a chronic no-show. They call back and are set up as a new pt. That reminds me. I guess we'd need to delete the no show appt too so it doesn't count against the innocent replacement pt. Marcia

It might be more helpful on the files that were created in old software (Officemate) when a parent made an appointment for a child. It automatically created a file on the parent with no appointment or info. Or when you accidentally duplicate a patient. I agree that it's good to have a record of no-shows, but there still seem to be opportunities to use your suggestion.
