Can anyone please offer instruction on editing templates so that certain fields are pre-populated (and still subject to edititing) if another field has certain values?

Hello, There is a short video on our YouTube channel which goes through an example of the if/then command: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLdC6as2Cv0Hopefully this is helpful to you, if not please call into tech support 800-308-7169 so we can schedule a training for you. Thanks! Erica

the video is a good idea, but the resolution is not high enough to see what you are actually doing, given there is no audio

It's my video and it does have audio. I just checked it to confirm that.
FEC... Your description sounds a little more like linking which is a more passive action. If you link two fields, data entered in one field will automatically copy over to it's linked field. You can then overwrite the second one and it will not change the original field. OTOH, if thens are actions that you program a button to do. Eg If the field for OD sph is <0.00, then set the diagnosis to myopia. You have to hit a button to do the function. Marcia

Thanks for the replies. We know how to populate a field predicated on the value in a different field actuated with a BUTTON. Is there a way to create an "if-then" script in a text box field without the use of a button. For example, on our program, we desire to set it such that if FID 1187 says "Tropicamide," we'd like to populate field 1112 with the value "Dilation warning given" without having to hit the button. Furthermore, we'd like it to ignore upper/lower case when looking at the conditional value. Also, is there a way to set up an "or" when it looks at the test/conditional values in the if/then command set up? For example, it would be easier if we could set it such that if FID 1187 says "Tropicamide" OR "Cyclopentolate" OR "Paramyd" OR "Atropine" OR "Scopolomine" or "Phynelephrine," we'd like to populate field 1112 with the value "Dilation warning given."
Also, is there a way to modify the dropdown menus? For example, if w are fitting a patient into a Ciba (FID 356) ACP (AquaComfortPlus) lens (FID 360), is there a way to limit what appears on the dropdown menu in FID 360 (ie to only the Ciba products)?

The only way to have an if/than command is to have the button trigger it. You can program your button to contain multiple if...then commands! In this example I have the options you listed as F9's in FID 1507. Button 1508 has multiple if...then commands that will populate 1509 with Dilation warning given Also, I don't think there is a way to do conditional F9 buttons, so I will get back to you on that. If you are using one of the CL catalogs they are set up this way.

So the limiting F9 values is not an option, but like I said earlier, the CL catalogs do! There are a few ways to access the catalogs. One way is to create a CL grid (we can help you set this up if you want!) Once you select ABB or OOGP depending on what you set up the catalog will come up: You can also click the CL RX button in the medrec select ABB, OOGP or Wis Vis and then the search inventory button: And the third way is to go into the patient chart->Prescription->create new order and then search inventory. Please see the following document on setting up OOGP (ABB & Wis Vis work pretty much the same) crystalpm.com/stage_2/steps%20to%20integrate%20oogp.pdfLet me know if you have any questions! Erica

Is there a way to create an "if-then" script in a text box field without the use of a button? Nope. But you may want to make a button that fills in the field where you're entering Tropicamide and lists the warning. I have buttons for my common drugs that also fill in the lenses I typically use to view the retina. I'll probably add the ARRA Exam Type field to those buttons too. If you set the command line for the drug to Append, you can have multiple buttons for drugs and it will add each drug that you hit to the field where you store the drops used. Marcia
