I think it would be helpful to have these within CPM. A dot phrase is a shortcut that expands into a longer, pre-set text. They are already utilized in a lot of EHR systems already to assist with documenting notes & medical notes for the providers.
The last EHR system I used (when working in primary care) you were able to make your own phrases & customize them as needed. For example: patient calls in to reschedule an appointment. The office has specific questions asked when the patient reschedules. By opening a note & typing ".res" all the text for these questions would populate allowing the staff documenting to quickly fill in the note (example below). Could also be helpful when triaging if you have a base set of questions to enter to ask a patient.
Appt Reschedule:
Caller: Appt Date/Time: Reason: New Appt Date/Time:
Thank you
