In our EMR, we have fields for the previous Rx- Rx 1 and Rx 2. I've created a button to populate these with the Previous Rx and checked the "All Previous Vals from Same Date" checkbox. But when I push previous- it populates Rx 2 with the previous Rx 2 from 3 exams ago- the last 2 exams have not had a Rx 2... Shouldn't checking this box take care of this?
Thanks- Caitlin

I believe the All Prev Val from Same Date is relatively new and I'm not sure how Crystal uses that. I can see the value in it (you wouldn't want it to pull the add from one Rx and prism from another) but it seems like it would be hard to control (or know) what you are getting. How does it decide which date to go by if fields 1,2 and 3 are blank on one date and 4 and 5 on another? The first filed it encounters as it goes through the commands? The most recent exam that has data? And what happens if the same button has fields related to another set of data that you want from all the same date but not necessarily the refraction date?
Not sure if this helps but I have an age field in my Hab Rx section and I pull forward that field with the prev Rx values. Then at least I know when it is from. Marcia

Follow up to this question - this doesn't come up very often, but if we hit the "Previous" button it will populate the last value for all fields - anytime it has been used. We used the "All Prev Val from Same Date" check mark but we can still see prism that was prescribed 3 Rx ago even if it wasn't in the last Rx... basically we're seeing the scenario Marcia has outlined above. Could the Crystal folks comment? thanks! Caitlin

It's going to pull from the last time there was an Rx entered. It is not "Import From Previous Exam", but "Import The Last Time This Was Filled Out". It looks for the last time a value was entered into that particular Rx and pulls all values, blank or not, from that date. what happens if the same button has fields related to another set of data that you want from all the same date but not necessarily the refraction date?
It goes back to the first record that has ANY of the values in that button. If you are looking for a different date, you would need to create a different button or uncheck the Same Date box and just use Previous Value. For your most recent issue, Caitlin, this is something we would need to get logged on to take a look at, as I haven't heard of any other offices with a similar issue. In Crystal, go to Support and Request Support and leave a good time and number for a technician to get back to you!
