Our office has been on opto since the dawn of our office, I was wondering since we have a lot of older folks having issues with the software change (not innocent here, mid 20s and still hitting hiccups) if there have been any specific OPTO-Crystal useful tips and tricks? Or just helpful changes in perspective. I'm the contact lens tech and just want to make my interactions as easy as possible and visa vesa with the rest of the office.

Danielle,
When I purchased my practice two years ago, the prior optometrist had OPTO. I am still using OPTO as OPTO has said they would be ready for ICD-10.
Have you decided to switch from OPTO to Crystal? If so, what discount from Crystal did you receive to transition? (Crystal stated that current OPTO users would receive a discount)
As you know, OPTO still isn't ready for ICD-10. If you haven't switched to Crystal yet, what is your office doing to submit claims after October 1st?
Thanks!

Hey! I don't know what they paid, as I mentioned I am just a tech. As far as OPTO and ICD-10 we switched before OCT 1st so we haven’t had any dealings with it. Crystal does awesome with ICD-10 and a few cheat sheets that we all use. Our local surgery (cat/lasik) office gave us a cheat sheet to use for codes we would run into with them and we just made one to keep in exam lanes, though Crystal does have lots of drop down menu options our doctors are using the sheets more. The switch from OPTO to crystal has not been as smooth as we hoped, our billing/insurance person has issues with the way things are done in Crystal, as a contact lens tech so long as the doctor does their part its not too bad. It just seems like going from the smooth few clicks of opto there is a bit more to be done. It is a very doctor based software!! Our doctors went from paper records and handing most of the things over, to having to do most of the filling in themselves. It is very key that the doctors put in all the information! We are submitting ICD-10 and doing well so far, we mostly handle VSP and once we get over a few hiccups it seems to be going well.
