I have started to run into a issue with VSP. I didnt post this in the VSP because it doesnt have anything to do with integration.
I have only been using Crystal since June 1st and so not everything is integrated. Going from paper files to digital is daunting enough as it is and so I am taking baby steps as we work towards full integration.
Now the problem, I have been printing out my CMS-1500 forms to file to insurance (yeah I know! But lets not worry about integration at the moment). There hasn't been an issue with any of the insurance carriers until VSP decided to reject any claim that, "is printed from a Practice Management system." I'm wondering if there is some ways around this. I could change my printer settings to print the form in high quality and they would be hard pressed to see the difference. But I also need to fix the margins as the printout cuts off the right side of the form.
Does anyone else have some suggestions?
I will move into integrating the insurance filing if I need to but I'm trying not to overwhelm my staff as they learn how to use Crystal.

Wow! That is different! I would call VSP and see what the problem is. I have filed secondary and tertiary paper claims to VSP with no problem. I know VSP prefers you to file online at their website, so maybe that is the problem. Personally, it's easier for me to file online than to deal with the paper claims and printers that don't line up exactly....

I wish I could file online. But since I am an optician owned practice I can't. So I have to file a paper claim.

Are you using the official cms forms to print info on top of the claim or printing with background?

the margins can be adjusted by either clicking on the different buttons at the bottom of the CMS form itself or in the ADMIN- Defaults page. Just keep adjusting it til you get it right.

you have to use the red CMS forms, not the B&W printout from CrystalPM

you have to use the red CMS forms, not the B&W printout from CrystalPM They print in color. I do it all the time. Problem may be they require the OFFICIAL form with the writing on the back. I had this issue come up with state run insurance companies.

I had this issue come up with state run insurance companies. You are correct. I was printing them in color. An update, I adjusted the margins as best I could and now print the claim using the "No background" and have "official" CMS1500 forms and this does work. Its a pain, but I'm not going back to writing these things out by hand. Crystal has eliminated a lot of clerical errors and to go back to writing it out would be reintroduce them. Truthfully, it seems to me this issue with "not accepting printed claims through a Office Management Software" is another game played by VSP. I have absolutely no problem filing any claims with any other insurance company. To bad I cant tell VSP to take a hike, but we do way too much business to do that.

Medicaid does not like office printed forms either. They want the 'official' form with writing on the back. Maybe they own stock in the CMS form printing companies....
