When trying to do inventory, we have discovered a problem with the process. First, a randomly generated UPC with a '1' as the last digit prints as a '7' every time. Therefore, it is not found in the system when scanned. Then, when it errors out on the verify inventory, there is no way for the optician to know, and any scans after that just keep adding to the top box, not going to the list at bottom. The idea was supposed to be that you could scan a board and not have to sit in front of the laptop but that isn't the case. You actually have to watch to make sure each scan is good. Does anyone have a successful way of doing inventory? Our optician hates it, she says you can't trust CPM. We are doing smaller batches, but that isn't even helping. I'd also like to know why a randomly generated number would print differently that it appears in the system.

we have the same issue with having to have a laptop nearby. we thought we can just get a cordless scanner and scan the barcodes but crystal program is so unstable that sometimes it doesn't read and doesn't have a different beeping sound to notify us that the staff keeps scanning only to realize later the last 100+ frames didn't register bc the program was stuck on a barcode that didn't scan. so we always have to have a laptop and move it around with us which is kind of annoying.

Did anyone get a resolution to this problem?
We are not trusting CPM and wish that we knew if there was a better way.
