We are running into a problem with patients who get entered into the system once and then become inactive for some reason (long time not seen, no show-whatever) and then that same patient calls for an appointment later & gets re-entered a second time. Crystal DOES NOT ALERT us that there is already a patient with same last name & DOB as an inactive patient.
Then when we DO figure out this has happened and go to merge the two records, there is STILL an INACTIVE patient listed in the system. Why doesn't the merge truly merge and only show ONE record?
We have new staff that are still learning Crystal AND don't know the patients names.
This is FRUSTRATING!! Our old system could do it, sure seems like Crystal could do it, too!

Crystal does not remove old patients, period. We have discussed this before in other threads and the suggestion was made to overwrite the information in the record to get rid of the unwanted information. As to no warning, Crystal should be giving you a warning for a duplicate patient, even if inactive. If something is entered differently, it could affect it, but if you are not getting any warning pop up, you need to contact Crystal support to look into it. That is part of Crystal's bones, so to speak. I've even seen it catch some that were close-but-not-quite the same.

That would be a great feature. I know it detects when patients do the on line form, once it has been submitted, but would be nice to catch ahead of time.
