You are running an out of date version of Crystal. Current version is 4.7.21. You can read update logs at crystalpm.proboards.com/board/21/updatesYou can update by going to Admin > Updates > Check for Updates and following the on screen instructions. Once you update you will see Ipad listed in the config drop down.

So, yes I would definitely do a backup before updating.. In fact, I would say that if you do not already have a redundant back up protocol in place then you should look into that ASAP.. For example, our office has a backup protocol that backs up multiple copies of our database every day to a locally networked Western Digital NAS cloud external hard drive which is also partitioned off from the rest of our network to protect the back ups in the event the network is infected with malware or ransomware. We also test the back ups once per month to make sure nothing is getting corrupted in the process. The technical prowess needed for setting something like this up is definitely above average and you may need an IT professional to help set it up, but I think it is probably a good idea. To answer your questions more acutely though: No, you should not lose any patient data, however it is always best practice to have a back up just in case. I recommend doing the update at the end of the day with everyone else closed out of Crystal, however I have done them before mid day with no issues. Workstations will be updated the first time they reopen crystal after an update, so if you update mid day and someone has Crystal open they will remain on old version until they restart Crystal. For details on how to do a backup, I would check out this thread crystalpm.proboards.com/thread/226/data-backup but honestly I think its best to have someone at Crystal log in and walk you through it if your not all to familiar with it
