How easy is it to activate these clinical decision support rules to meet meaningful use? Is it best to call Crystal PM staff for advice? We just had more information (rules) placed in our Crystal software but not sure what to do with them . Thanks for your help.

Once I created the clinical decision support rules I wanted to implement, James did them for me in just a few minutes.
I came up with some Clinical decision support rules that relate to the clinical quality measures that Crystal has a report for. We wanted something actually useful, and not something that would pop up way too often, since we have to have five rules for Stage 2, instead of just one for Stage 1.
Alert for: Pop-up would say:
1. Plaquenil in the drug list 10-2 VF, OCT-RET and RPH
2. current smoker counsel to stop 3. cup to disc ratio greater than .4 glaucoma testing
4. diabetic retinopathy diagnosis letter to PCP
5. Amiodarone in the drug list monitor for AION/whorl keratopathy

Thanks for the advice. It gave me confidence to even add a new clinical decision support (blood pressure) and I just followed how the other rules were set up and chose what I wanted the prompt or pop-up to say. It really wasn't that hard to make changes or additions in any of the information needed for the rules (criteria, notification, text, etc). We will also use the Plaquenil, current smoker, cup to disc ratio, and diabetic retinopathy diagnosis just like you are.
