Has anyone played with the Merge Insurance feature? Before I go too far and mess up royally, I need to know for sure which one merges into which one? Does the one on the left merge into the one on the right and go away? Or does the one on the right go away? Since it took some trial and error to figure out linking patients without losing data, I'm not sure how to read the Merge screen.

Don't do it until the fix the billing screen to lock in insurances form previously billed invoices. It's not worth the headache or the insurance receivable nightmare for pending payments that will ensue... I had to learn the hard way. It needs to be corrected so merging insurances had NO effect on past billing!!!!!!! The plans features are totally useless to anyone that has the system currently unless you want a big ole mess in your insurance receivables later. Thank god we only had the system a year. It didn't affect as many things as someone that has had the system for 4 or more. Pity, too. I was really excited about the changes until I was told it wasn't planing on being fixed and was really only good for new customers... I wish I was told that BEFORE I started playing with the fun new feature and all hell broke loose. The merge part is actually pretty easy.

Thanks for the warning. I'm actually only trying to merge Collections with the one that has the actual name of the collections company. Maybe I should just change the name of Collections..... I was interested in the plans, esp with Blue Cross, but that certainly isn't worth the headache!

I am starting to add plans to auto calculate. Davis and eyemed especially. I just don't have the time to do that and all the other admin change stuff right now...looking forward to when I can! Maybe they will change the way the previous invoices are done and they you can merge without affecting old bills. You can add plans without any difficulty/damage. It doesn't register plans at all in the changes. You just can't change your "MAIN" list without messing everything up. Plans added are safe...If that helps

They fixed this, by the way. You are safe to add plans but wait until next patch. It took the plans out of the billing screen (for no reason in particular) but it is fixed in beta. It IS NOW worth the effort. Keeps billing quick and CORRECT! and I just get auth and show submitted insurance in files using the crystal printer to go direct into patient files. Just don't have to crystals open with 2 different patients. It will try to add to both. and on a diffrent note...just in case you didn't know about this trick. see what I mean Attachments:
