Our clinic has been having continued difficultly simplifying the recall process enough to use this report on a regular basis - which is a long term goal for our practice. Our hope is to, as we grow our practice, send out recalls monthly in advance of patient appointments. We aim to alert everyone when they are due for their annual (and eventually other) exams. Unfortunately, this process becomes very complex as we have noticed recalls being created for EVERY new patient. - If a new patient is created attempting to schedule over the phone, yet this patient never actually schedules the appointment and is not seen by a doctor, a recall will still be automatically created within this system.
- Another example, if we create a new patient to sell a pair of glasses, but that patient is never seen... a recall is still created within their chart. Therefore, when I run a recall report I am forced to go through each patient to verify if they were actually seen for an appointment or not as some recalls are never deleted after their "automatic creation."
- Likewise, if a patient schedules but cancels their appointment before being seen, a recall is still sitting in their chart.
Is there a way to turn off this function altogether that we are simply missing? How is it that a recall is being created for each New Patient?

Is there a way to turn off this function altogether that we are simply missing? How is it that a recall is being created for each New Patient? It sounds like you have a specific recall type set as default instead of "None" in your Admin>>Defaults>>Patient Page Defaults area. This would cause a new recall to be created for each new patient added. If you set the default to "None" then recalls will be only be created when you add one.

Thank you Gina,
That is exactly what we had - what a great discovery to save us from this constant battle with recalls!
